Australian Impact Framwork

The Australian Impact Framework is a national approach designed to measure, evaluate, and improve the outcomes of social and health initiatives across communities. It provides a shared structure for impact measurement, enabling organisations to demonstrate value, enhance service delivery, and foster collaboration.

What is the Australian Impact Framework?

The framework offers a standardised set of measures and tools to capture the benefits of programs and services. It focuses on person-centred outcomes, ensuring that data reflects real experiences and improvements in wellbeing. By using consistent metrics, organisations can compare results, identify gaps, and drive evidence-based decision-making.

Why It Matters

Key Feature

  • Transparency & Accountability: Demonstrates the effectiveness of programs to funders, stakeholders, and communities.
  • Shared Language: Creates a common understanding of impact across sectors.
  • Improved Planning: Supports resource allocation and strategic development based on reliable data.

  • Standard Measures: Includes validated tools such as PROMIS® (Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System) for physical, mental, and social health.
  • Data Collection Resources: Guides for ethical data handling, privacy compliance, and technology protections.
  • Thin Data Layer: A simplified approach to integrating data across systems without compromising confidentiality.

Benefits of a Shared Framework

  • Enhances collaboration between health, community, and social service providers.
  • Reduces duplication and improves efficiency.
  • Builds trust through consistent, transparent reporting.
